At Vermont Soy we stress the importance of local food production and processing. By supporting farmers in the community, we ensure the freshest food and the least energy consumption.
Follow the path of a soybean from Asia or Latin America – and factor in how far that soybean has to travel before it reaches us in Vermont. This is not sustainable agriculture. Shipping soybeans from Asia and Latin America, processing the soy into milk at massive plants in the Midwest, and then shipping the ultra-pasteurized product throughout North America makes no sense. Far too much energy is expended to produce and ship soy foods across the globe.
